How to Set Up Your Camera (Especially DSLR Cameras)

General Camera Setup

Follow these steps to get everything running smoothly.
(If you are using a DSLR camera, skip to the next section.)

  • Allow Camera Access
Make sure your browser allows camera usage. A prompt usually appears in the top-left corner asking for permission.
  • Check Camera Connection
Ensure your camera is properly connected. If using an external camera, confirm that the cable is securely plugged in.
  • Close Other Applications
Make sure no other applications or browser tabs are using your camera. It must be available exclusively for the web app.
  • Update Your iOS (if applicable)
If you're on iOS, check for system updates and install any available ones.
  • Update Your Browser
Ensure your browser is up to date. New versions often fix bugs related to camera functionality.
  • Ensure a Stable Internet Connection
A steady connection is crucial for web-based camera usage.
  • Reload the Page
If your camera isn’t recognized within 1 minute, refresh the page.
  • Switch Your Browser
If nothing works, try another browser.
Verified working browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari.

DSLR Setup (Canon and Others)

  • Download EOS Utility Software
Install the latest version of EOS Utility Software compatible with your camera.
  • Download EOS Webcam Utility Software
Check if your EOS camera is supported. If yes, install the software and restart your PC.
  • Check Device Manager (Windows)
Open Device Manager and verify whether your camera appears under the Camera tab.
If it’s not visible, the web app cannot access it.
  • Change USB Cable and USB Port
Faulty cables can cause issues. Test with another USB cable and try different ports.
  • Test in Google Meet
Check if your DSLR is recognized in Google Meet.
If it doesn’t work there, it won’t work in the web app either.
  • Update Your Browser
Ensure your browser is updated to the latest version.
  • Deactivate WLAN on the Camera
Disable Wi-Fi (WLAN) in your camera settings.
Active WLAN can block USB communication.
  • Reinstall EOS Drivers
You may have the wrong version installed. Reinstall the correct EOS Utility Software or check Canon’s website for compatibility.
  • Reinstall USB Drivers
Faulty USB drivers can interfere with camera access.
In Device Manager, navigate to Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click Generic USB Hub, and select Update drivers.
